MTN Rwanda’s newly appointed CEO, Monzer Ali, has officially taken over leadership and delivered his first public speech, outlining his strategic vision for the company. Speaking to stakeholders and the media, Ali emphasized a strong focus on accessibility, innovation, and sustainability.
In his remarks, Ali praised Rwanda’s progress in digital transformation and pledged MTN Rwanda’s continued support in driving the nation’s connectivity goals. He revealed plans to expand the availability of affordable smartphones, enhance mobile banking services, and improve nationwide access to fast internet, including wider 4G+ coverage and future readiness for 5G technology.

The new CEO also stressed MTN’s responsibility in promoting sustainable and inclusive growth. This includes embracing green energy initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental impact.
With over 24 years of experience in the telecom industry — 21 of which have been within the MTN Group — Monzer Ali takes over from Mapula Bodibe, who has been appointed as the new CEO of MTN South Sudan. This leadership change is part of MTN Group’s broader “Ambition 2025” strategy to drive transformation across its markets.
